Product Development Team

What is the mission of the Product Development team?

Section titled “What is the mission of the Product Development team?”
Quick Answer

The Product Development team at Mujin designs the mechanical systems and standard cell layouts of our products, creating universal robot grippers and optimized structural environments that maximize robot range and reliability.

What does the Product Development team do?

Section titled “What does the Product Development team do?”

We turn engineering requirements into standard physical products:

Universal Gripper Design

We develop advanced mechanical, vacuum, and hybrid end-effectors capable of picking diverse packages and products.

Standard Cell Mechanicals

We design modular robot enclosures, conveyor brackets, camera mounts, and safety fences for fast on-site installation.

Pneumatic & Valve Systems

We design low-latency, high-flow pneumatic manifolds and vacuum circuits that ensure fast, reliable gripper picks.

What technology stack and engineering workflows do we use?

Section titled “What technology stack and engineering workflows do we use?”

We bridge computer design with physical testing in our workshops:

  1. Mechanical Design & CAD
    • 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor) for parts and assemblies.
    • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to ensure structural strength and weight reduction.
  2. Pneumatics & Control
    • Designing circuits using Festo/SMC valves, pressure sensors, and proportional regulators.
  3. Prototyping & Physical Verification
    • 3D printing and CNC machining prototypes for quick test validation.
    • Using test benches to measure suction force, grip force, and cycle endurance.

Who succeeds in the Product Development team?

Section titled “Who succeeds in the Product Development team?”

We look for engineers who enjoy bringing physical designs to life:

  • Technical Competence: Strong knowledge of material properties, mechanics, pneumatic circuits, and manufacturing processes.
  • Effective Collaboration: Working with Robotics and Vision teams to ensure gripper designs don’t block camera views or limit motion.
  • Continuous Learning: Finding lighter, stronger materials (like carbon fiber) to optimize payload capacity.
