Automated 3D Camera Calibration in High-Speed Logistics Pickers

Precise 3D bin-picking requires exact coordinate alignment between 3D vision sensors and robot tool center points (TCP). In commercial logistics centers, manual calibration is too slow and error-prone.

  1. Target Detection The robot arm moves a calibrated target pattern through multiple poses while 3D cameras capture point clouds.
  2. Non-Linear Least Squares Optimization Our algorithm optimizes hand-eye calibration parameters to minimize reprojection errors across all camera sensors.
  3. Automated Validation Check The system runs automated pose validation before allowing production picking tasks to commence.
